The Living to Come Within Us

A participatory performance and multi-generational ritual space.
A shared act of weaving lives, memories, and prayers into a communal braid — connecting those present with one another and with those yet to come, the people for whom we will become ancestors.
The work invites participants into a slow, meditative process of shared handicraft. Through weaving, storytelling, and collective presence, individual lives enter a continuity that extends beyond the moment of the performance.
Presented at Olohuone 306 Urban Art Festival in 2024, the work unfolded with over thirty participants, forming a multi-sensory space where Karelian storytelling and embodied making intertwined.
The piece does not seek to represent the future, but to practice relation with it through tradition, shared creation, and the act of weaving continuity.
